Where LAs were unable to provide vacancies breakdowns, vacancies were assumed to be <12 months.
Figures from April 2005 have been revised to benchmark against figures collected in the annual October 2005 Local Authority Social Work Services Staffing Survey.
Filled Posts and Vacancies (WTE) figures have been rounded to the nearest integer but differences have been calculated on the unrounded figures.
In April 2006, Edinburgh City have removed Support Workers from their quarterly return, and have created 20 WTE vacancies in Children's Services.
In April 2006, Fife confirmed a large increase in senior social workers and drop in main grade social workers due to a progression scheme.
In April 2006, North Lanarkshire have included staff as senior and main grade social workers for the first time.
