APPENDIX 3
CONTRACTORS APPROVED FOR THE IN SITU APPLICATION OF POLYMERIC COATINGS

The conditions of approval for in-situ application of polymeric coatings to water pipes require contractors to obtain third party certification. In addition, the relevant operational guidance and code of practice document specifies that all contractors must complete successfully a supervised lining trial.

Currently, for the in situ application of epoxy resin, contractors must refer to the " In-Situ Epoxy Resin Lining - Operational Requirements and Code of Practice" 3 rd Edition - ISBN 1-898920 45 1; for the in-situ application of rapid-setting polymeric linings, contractors must refer to the " In-Situ Rapid-Setting Polymeric Lining - Operational Guidance and Code of Practice" - ISBN 0-9539278-0-6However, Regulation 27 Letter 2/2005 gave notice under Regulation 27(10)(b) of Scottish Ministers'intention to modify the conditions of approval. This modification takes effect from 1st April 2007.

The effect of the modification inter alia, will be to require Scottish Water and lining contractors to adhere to the requirements of " In-situ Resin Coating of Water Mains Operational Requirements". That document and "Code of Practice: In Situ Lining of Water Mains" are already posted on the Inspectorate's website: www.dwi.gov.uk/cpp/neworcopindex.shtm Appointed organisations to accredit resin lining contractors and equipments and to provide training to lining operatives and Utility Representatives, are encouraged to refer to the new documents during training. Details of the requirements for the appointed organisations can be obtained from the Technical Secretary. To date, four organisations have been appointed: WRc, FaberMaunsell, WRc- NSF and RPS.

The following tables list the lining contractors which have been approved by each of the appointed organisation and have achieved full third party certification. The resins for which the lining contractord have been approved are listed against the company names.
