Scottish Crime and Victimisation Survey ( SCVS)
Current contractor: BMRB
Contact: Barry Stalker [0131 244 6934] / Korin Lebov [0131 244 4046]
The SCVS is a large scale household survey which collects data about people's experiences of, and attitudes towards, crime as well as other crime related issues, such as anti-social behaviour and policing. Estimates generated by the survey are used to complement police recorded crime statistics, and experience of victimisation may be analysed by various socio-economic variables. The most recently published data are from the 2003 Scottish Crime Survey. A summary findings paper for the 2004 face-to-face SCVS will be published in Spring 2006. It is planned to carry out a survey in Summer 2006. The results of this will be available in early 2007.
