8.1 Benefiting From A Single Shared Assessment
The following actual scenario highlights the benefits which can accrue from a SSA process.
Mary Notman, Care Manager, received a phone call from the District Nurse 28 miles away in a client's home, where the carer had been admitted to hospital and respite care was urgently needed for her husband.
Mary was in her office. Due to an ability to share information which had already been collected via a Single Shared Assessment, Mary was able to organise funding and placement for the gentleman, within 2 hours.
Prior to implementing the eCare system, this would have taken a whole day to organise.
Positive outcomes for this were:
- the carer knew within 2 hours that her husband was in safe hands
- the husband was in appropriate care within an acceptable time period
- the District Nurse and Care Manager were able to quickly return to their daily workload.
