This Year's Awards
Nominations closed in September for the 2005 Awards. The 38 entries have been assessed by this year's judges: Joan Burnie, Ian McLarty and Fiona Moriarty. This year we have added a fourth awards category; Community Involvement. We have been encouraged by the number of entries in this new category, indicating that there is already a great deal of good practice in evidence. It is hoped that the Minister for Communities will present the Awards at The Hub on 9 March 2006.
Designing Places Award
This year's ceremony saw the third Designing Places Award. This award is for urban design work that has been carried out as part of planning courses, whether a project, dissertation, essay or report. The judges Rob Cowan, Morag Bain and Suzanne Stephen awarded Julie Seidel, John Davies and Richard Broadley (students recently graduated from Heriot-Watt University) for The Kelty Challenge. Nominations closed in October for the 2005 Designing Places Award. Awards will be presented at the Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning Ceremony in March 2006.
The Communities' Ministers are pleased with the continued high level of interest in the Scottish Awards for Quality Planning and the high quality of applications.
