7 The huge majority of visitors to Scotland already highlight the scenery and environment as main reasons for coming to Scotland (the 2004 Tourism Attitudes Survey found that "the scenery" and "natural environment" of Scotland are 2 of the most important factors in determining the choice of Scotland as a holiday destination - alongside "things to see and do" and "the attitude of the local people"). Scottish scenery was overwhelmingly found to be the highlight of visitors' holidays. It is therefore vital to protect these factors allowing visitors to continue to enjoy the Scottish environment.
