Introduction
The Seventh Annual Report of the Planning Audit Unit follows the same format as last year with the full complement of performance statistics on our Planning Home Page http://www.scotland.gov.uk/library5/planning/paur2-00.asp . We continue to give a brief commentary on the tables of council, national park, and Executive performance on planning. Notes are also provided on the work of the unit, on some of the year's key findings and issues raised for the Executive.
In 2004-2005 a full planning audit was completed for East Dunbartonshire Council and Western Isles Council while a review of the development management service in the City of Edinburgh Council planning service was also undertaken. The year 2005-2006 will focus on the preparation of the new Planning Bill, and there are therefore no audits planned for this period.
