Taking Evidence on Commission
1. A further draft of this guidance has been received and issued for comment by not later than 22 March. The next step in this piece of work will be for the Victims and Witnesses Unit to tidy it up and re-format it on the "house" style before it is issued for wider comment.
2. Timing is no longer critical with regard to this piece of work since implementation of this special measure has been postponed until the end of October. It would of course be desirable to meet the target set out in the Guidance risk assessment paper.

3. It would be useful to have this guidance in place as soon as possible but following criticism of the most recent draft it seems likely that this will be delayed. Professor Davies will be coming to Edinburgh on 21 March to discuss the difficulties surrounding this work with the Victims and Witnesses Unit and other interested parties. It is hoped that rapid progress can be made thereafter to complete the draft and to enable it to be issued for wider comment.
