AN OVERVIEW OF PROPOSED SCOTTISH GUIDANCE ON PREPARING FOR EMERGENCIES

This document has been prepared to give an insight into the proposals for the development of guidance on preparing for, and responding to, emergencies in Scotland. It outlines the structure of the proposed guidance and the elements that will be included in each of Sections 1 and 3.

Section 2 - Guidance on the Contingency Planning (Scotland) Regulations, 2005 forms part of the formal consultation.

Section 4 will be advised by regulatory bodies and inspectorates as proposals for audit and monitoring are developed.

The development of all Sections will be informed by the views of stakeholders.

This paper contains a commentary on the various Sections and Chapters of the proposed guidance and their purpose. The guidance will form a living document and the format may adapt over time.

Views on material that might be included and the form of the guidance would be welcomed.
