Restriction of Liberty Orders are available on a pilot basis in 3 Sheriff Courts. After sentence is imposed, the Clerk of Court will prepare the Order and obtain the offender's signature before he leaves the court. A copy of the Order will then be faxed to the provider of the electronic monitoring service. It is not necessary for the offender to be seen by the social worker, unless the concurrent Probation Officer or Drug Treatment and Testing Order has been imposed.
Drug Treatment and Testing Orders are available on a pilot basis in Glasgow Sheriff Court for residents of the City of Glasgow only.
Compensation Orders do not prevent victims from making a claim to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board in cases of violent crime although any money they receive from the offender will be deducted from the CICB award. Compensation Orders are therefore particularly useful for amounts of compensation below the minimum level set by the CICB (£1,000 in 1995).
