BETTER BEHAVIOUR: PROMOTING POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR IN SCOTTISH SCHOOLS
Introduction
WELCOME TO THE FIRST ISSUE OF BETTER BEHAVIOUR, A MAGAZINE EXPLORING NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND APPROACHES IN SCOTTISH EDUCATION.
Discipline is a key concern for the Scottish Executive, and we want to highlight the innovations, approaches and techniques for promoting positive behaviour being used in Scottish schools, as well as introducing some of the work SEED is developing to support the practitioners taking this work forward. Better Behaviour Newsletter is written for you, the classroom teacher, and aims to provide a round up of what is going on in Scottish classrooms today which will be of practical help.
Getting the atmosphere right in Scottish schools is vital for everyone - practitioners, schools, authorities and other supporting agencies - and of course for pupils. Enabling the creation of a stimulating, respectful and positive learning environment is our shared goal, and the work described in these pages shows that a positive ethos is a core feature of success in promoting positive behaviour.
We hope that you find this issue of Better Behaviour Newsletter both useful and interesting. More information on any of the featured initiatives in this magazine can be found on www.betterbehaviourscotland.gov.uk, a new website featured on the centre pull-out poster. We look forward to your comments on the magazine and website and your contributions on good practice, resources and initiatives which we will be pleased to share on-line for the wider education community in Scotland.
