Scottish Coastal Forum: Current ICZM initiatives: Spring 2004
Ministerial Foreword
I warmly welcome this publication by the Scottish Coastal Forum as it gives us an opportunity to take stock of the many developments and initiatives that are happening in relation to our coastline. At a time when there are increasing pressures upon coastal areas I am pleased that the "Partnership for a Better Scotland" agreement gives a wide range of commitments to addressing how we deal with our coasts.
I do not believe that any agency, either public or private, will be able to achieve sustainable management of the coasts on its own. They will only achieve this through integrated policies and working partnerships. I am therefore grateful to all those partnerships, whether national or local, for the excellent work they have carried out to date and for the valuable dimension they will add to the future.
