The Arable Area Payments Scheme (AAPS) is a voluntary scheme, which offers area payments on eligible land to growers of cereals, linseed, oilseeds, protein crops, flax and hemp. Farmers claiming AAPS cropping aid on more than 17.66 hectares in the Less-Favoured Area (LFA), or more than 16.23 hectares in the non-LFA, have an obligatory set-aside requirement. Farmers claiming on areas less than those specified above do not have to set land aside, but may do so on a voluntary basis.

AAPS 2004

The AAPS 2004 Booklet was issued in December 2003. Since then an EC Regulation has been published which reduces the level of compulsory set-aside for 2004 from 10% to 5%. A letter issued on 23rd February 2004 to all AAPS producers, which included recently agreed implementation details of the AAPS Protein Payments and the CAP Energy Crops Scheme (ECS).
