The Interface between the Scottish Police Service and the Public as Victims of Crime: Victim Perceptions

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This report was prepared by a research team comprising staff from De Montfort University and Stirling University. This made it a relatively complex project, and the research team wishes to express its gratitude to support staff at both institutions, and in particular to Gemma Ayres and Pam Lavery, for their help in ensuring that the process was managed efficiently. Thanks are also due to the inspection team and the other members of the research advisory group which managed the project, namely Chief Superintendent John Corrigan, Dr Emma Fossey, Kerry Morgan and Chief Superintendent Dick Munro. Their willingness to respond to requests for information and advice despite a busy inspection timetable made the process much easier for the research team. Dr Fossey also managed the whole process in an efficient, friendly and unobtrusive way. We are also very grateful to the officers in all the Scottish police services who responded patiently and efficiently to our requests for victims' details, and to the respondents themselves, the victims of crime who made their way on dark winter evenings to focus group meetings or agreed to fairly lengthy telephone interviews.
