EXPLANATORY NOTE

( This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates a river basin district as required by section 4(1) of the Water Environment and Water Services (Scotland) Act 2003.

This is done by reference to the map prepared under section 4(4) of the Act, which has been prepared for the purposes of the Order and laid before the Scottish Parliament at the same time as this Order. The map identifies the area of a river basin district, which covers most of Scotland.

Under section 4(6) of the Act, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency is under an obligation to make this Order and map available at all reasonable times for public inspection free of charge. As this obligation is contained in the Act, it is not necessary to make reference to it in this Order. This Order and map will also be published by the Scottish Ministers and will be available on their website at: www.scotland.gov.uk.

butterfly

Small changes in the way we perform everyday tasks can have huge impacts on Scotland's environment.

Walking short distances rather than using the car, or being careful not to overfill the kettle are just two positive steps we can all take.

This butterfly represents the beauty and fragility of Scotland's environment. The motif will be utilised extensively by the Scottish Executive and its partners in their efforts to persuade people they can do a little to change a lot.
