Summary Results of the September 2002 School Census
1. Introduction
1.1 This publication presents summary results from the September 2002 School Census of primary, secondary and special schools. The majority of the results relate to publicly funded schools (local authority, grant-aided and self-governing), although some statistics are provided for independent schools.
1.2 Most of the tables and text within the body of this publication relate to the national picture for Scotland. At the back of the publication, there are a small number of tables providing summary statistics for publicly funded schools by local authority. Analysis on a more local level is available via the Neighbourhood Statistics website - http://www.sns.gov.uk.
