CAP Reform

A major reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) was agreed on 26 June 2003. A summary of the main elements of the reform package are attached. The consolidated text will be published on the European Commission's website when available - www.europa.eu.int/comm/agriculture/mtr/index_en.htm.

The agreement provides Member States and regions with flexibility in some aspects of decoupling and a number of other options. The Executive will undertake consultation this summer to ensure a wide range of interests are taken into account.
