THE REVIEW OF NPPG4 LAND FOR MINERAL WORKING
APPENDIX 4 Local Authority Questionnaire
THE REVIEW OF NPPG 4: LAND FOR MINERAL WORKINGS
QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY OF LOCAL PLANNING AUTHORITIES
INTRODUCTION
Land Use Consultants (LUC) has been commissioned by the Scottish Executive to determine the need for a review of national planning guidance in relation to minerals working in Scotland (NPPG 4). This deals with all minerals other than opencast coal and related minerals, which are covered by NPPG 16. As part of the first stage in the research we wish to canvas the views of planning authorities in relation to the strengths and weaknesses of the existing guidance. This will be followed up by a more detailed review of a representative sample of development plans and development control decisions.
As all authorities require construction materials, and there is also an increased emphasis on the use of recycled and secondary aggregates, we are keen to obtain the views of all authorities, and not simply those with mineral resources.
To structure responses we would appreciate your assistance in completing this questionnaire, which is structured as follows:
(A) | General |
(B) | Locational and operational considerations |
(C) | Guidelines for primary aggregates |
(D) | Guidelines for recycled and secondary aggregates |
(E) | Guidelines for other individual minerals |
(F) | Development plans (Structure Plan) |
| Development plans (Local Plan) |
(G) | Development control |
For ease of use, each section begins on a separate page. It is recognised that some sections of the questionnaire will not be applicable (please leave these sections blank).
To minimise the time needed to complete this, most of the questions are in a tick-box format. We would however be most interested in any additional comments that you wish to make, and space is provided for this.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this questionnaire. We would be grateful if you could return it to Fiona Simpson by 25 th May 2001. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Joanna Wright or Fiona Simpson of LUC on 0141 332 8098.
