Figures may not sum due to rounding
The figures for Moray and Highland are not included as they did not participate in the 2001 survey
The figures for Dundee City, Falkirk, Scottish Borders and West Lothian are new sites identified in 2001, compared with the 1999 survey as they did not participate in the 2000 survey
In addition, two sites in Inverclyde that had previously been removed from the survey, totalling 1ha, were reinstated.

.2 Table 16 shows new sites identified since the previous survey. In the majority of cases, this refers to new sites identified since the 2000 survey, but four local authorities did not complete the survey in 2000, so their figures refer to new sites identified since the 1999 survey. These authorities are identified separately in the table. There were 234 hectares (133 sites) of newly identified derelict land since the previous survey. Of these, 67 hectares (59 sites) were in North Lanarkshire and 52 hectares (8 sites) were in East Ayrshire. There were 288 hectares (250 sites) of newly identified vacant land since the previous survey. Of these, 61 hectares (15 sites) were in Falkirk and 52 hectares (44 sites) were in North Lanarkshire. Note that these figures relate only to completely new sites identified: sites listed in the previous survey which increased in size are not included in Table 16. Any such enlargement of individual sites may, however, account for part of any increase in the amount of vacant and derelict land recorded in different years, shown in Table 2 and Table 4.
