Land Use Planning under a Scottish Parliament: Overview of Responses to Consultation

FOREWORD

Sarah Boyack

I am delighted to publish this overview of the responses to the consultation paper Land Use Planning under a Scottish Parliament. A much fuller digest of the responses will also be available on the Scottish Executive's website.

When the consultation paper was issued the intention was to open up debate about the key mechanisms of the planning system. The consultation responses have fulfilled those expectations and I am grateful to all who took time to submit their views. On some issues there is a fairly clear consensus, on others views are much more varied. But respondents' concerns to make our planning system work better are overwhelmingly evident.

I am determined that the planning system should play a positive and effective part in securing Scotland's sustainable development. I intend to announce my thoughts on the way forward for planning within the next few weeks.

Sarah Boyack MSP
Minister with responsibility for Planning
