SCALE OF FEES
WITH EFFECT FROM 30 JANUARY 1997
Outline Applications
a. most types | £180 per 0.1 ha (or part thereof) of site area. Maximum £4,500 (= 2.5 ha). |
b. one dwellinghouse | £180. |
Full Applications and Reserved Matters
Alterations etc to existing dwellings. (Outline applications also). | £90 per dwellinghouse. Maximum £180. |
Erection of dwellings. | £180 per dwellinghouse created. Maximum £9,000 (= 50). |
Erection of buildings other than dwellings, plant and machinery. | Works not creating more than 40 sq m of additional floor space - £90. |
| More than 40 sq m but not more than 75 sq m of additional floor space - £180. |
| Each additional 75 sq m (or part thereof) - £180. Maximum £9,000 (= 3,750 sq m). |
Erection, alteration or replacement of plant and machinery. | £180 per 0.1 ha (or part thereof) of site area. Maximum £9,000 (= 5 ha). |
Agricultural building. | Where the area of gross floor space to be created does not exceed 465 sq m, £33; where the gross floor space exceeds 465 sq m but does not exceed 540 sq m, £180; where it exceeds 540 sq m, £180 for the first 540 sq m and £180 for each 75 sq m in excess of that figure subject to a maximum of £9,000. |
Glasshouses. | Where the gross floor space is 465 sq m or less, £33; where it exceeds 465 sq m, £1,035. |
Approval of reserved matters where flat rate (below) does not apply. | A fee based on floor space/numbers of dwellinghouses involved. |

Car parks, service roads or accesses. | £90 (existing uses only). |
Exploratory drilling for oil or natural gas. | £180 per 0.1 ha (or part thereof) of site area. Maximum £13,500 (= 7.5 ha). |
Other operations on land. | £90 per 0.1 ha (or part thereof) of site area. Maximum £900 (= 1 ha). |
Change of use to and subdivision of dwellings. | £180 per additional dwelling created. Maximum £9,000. |
Other changes of use except waste or minerals. | £180. |
Advertisements. | £90. |
Concessionary Fees and Exemptions
Works to improve a disabled person's access to a public building, or to improve his access, safety, health or comfort at his dwellinghouse. | No fee. |
Applications (including advertisement applications) by community councils. | Half the normal fee. |
Applications required because of the removal of permitted development rights by a condition or by an Article 4 direction. | No fee. |
Applications required because of the removal by a condition of a right to make a change of use within the Use Classes Order. | No fee. |
Playing fields (for sports clubs etc). | £180. |
Revised or fresh application for development or advertisements of the same character or description within 12 months of refusal, or of the making of the earlier application if withdrawn, or within 12 months of expiry of the statutory 2 months period where the applicant has appealed to the Secretary of State on the grounds of non-determination. | No fee. |
