Engage for Education
10/08/2010
The first ever Engage for Education public meeting is to take place in the Aberdeenshire town of Inverurie tonight.
Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning Michael Russell will lead the discussion and will be joined by senior education figures from within the Scottish Government.
Mr Russell said:
"With the new school term fast approaching as Curriculum for Excellence becomes a reality in all schools, this is an excellent chance to put any questions about the new system directly to me.
"This is the first of a short series of summer visits building on the recent launch of engageforeducation.org which has created an ongoing dialogue on education between the public and the Scottish Government. I hope to schedule more meetings for later in the year.
"They are designed to give parents, teachers, pupils, students and members of the public the opportunity to discuss issues across the spectrum of Scottish education with a number of senior figures.
"I would encourage anyone in the area with an interest in education issues to come along and have their say."
The meeting takes place at Inverurie Academy, Jackson Street, Inverurie from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Doors open to the public from 7pm.
Further meetings are scheduled for:
- August 26, Lornshill Academy in Alloa 1930-2130 hours
- August 31, Balivanich School in Benbecula 1930-2130 hours
