Appointment of new sheriff

Her Majesty the Queen, on the recommendation of the First Minister, has appointed Mr William Summers, Solicitor Advocate, as an all-Scotland floating sheriff based in Stirling.
First Minister Alex Salmond nominated Mr Summers for appointment on the basis of a report by the independent Judicial Appointments Board.
Mr Summers will have a commission enabling him to serve where required throughout Scotland's sheriff courts.
It is likely that Mr Summers will take up his appointment in September 2010.
