HEAT target E7: Electronic Management of Referrals

Scotland's Chief Statistician today published statistics that measure progress against HEAT target E7: Electronic Management of Referrals.
These statistics show the percentage of GP referrals that are sent electronically to secondary care through the SCI Gateway, as well as the percentage of referrals from GPs to consultant led secondary care that are managed electronically.
- The proportion of all referrals received through SCI Gateway by NHS Boards in Scotland increased by 12 percentage points from 82.7 per cent in April 2009 to 94.8 per cent in March 2010
- The percentage of referrals that were managed electronically was 47.4 per cent in December 2009, increasing from 8.7 per cent in April 2009
Progress against HEAT targets are routinely published by Information Services Division of NHS National Services Scotland, Scottish Government and Special Health Boards.
