Papal visit to Scotland

Welcoming the announcement of the Pope's visit to Scotland, First Minister Alex Salmond said:
"I warmly welcome the announcement that His Holiness will travel to Scotland this September and visit Edinburgh and Glasgow.
"The papal events in 1982 were an enormous success and this visit will be a wonderful occasion for the whole of Scotland. The Scottish Government will be working with the Palace, the Catholic Church and UK Government to ensure the Pope's visit is a successful and memorable event."
