Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon today announced a non-executive member re-appointment to Fife NHS Board.

Alastair Robertson retired from full-time employment in 1998. At the time of his retiring he was I.T. Strategy Manager with Fife Council. He was a public representative with NHS Fife until January 2007 when he was appointed to the Board. His previous experience includes appointments as a consumer advisor with Oftel, The British Standards Institution, and The European Association for the Coordination of Consumer Representation in Standardisation. He is currently Chair of the Audit Committee for the Board and has strong local connections. Mr Robertson does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

This re-appointment will be for a period of 4 years from January 1, 2010 until December 31, 2013.

This post is part-time with a time commitment of 8 hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £8,008.

Fife NHS Board is responsible for the strategic planning of health services and the development of measures to improve the health of the community in the Fife region.

This Ministerial re-appointment was made in accordance with Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS) Code of Practice.

All re-appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five years, Mr Robertson has not been involved in any political activity.
