Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon today announced the re-appointment of a Non-Executive member to the Scottish Ambulance Service Board.
Ms Suzanne Dawson is a self employed marketing consultant offering clients a strategic marketing consultancy service, campaign planning and day-to-day marketing support. Before setting up her business in 2001, Ms Dawson was head of marketing at Scottish Enterprise (Edinburgh & Lothian). Earlier in her career she held marketing positions with the Scottish Braille Press and a leading trade exhibition company and was a part-time marketing lecturer at Napier University. She is currently Chair of the Borders College Board of Management and has served on the board since 2001. Ms Dawson is also Chair of the Board of BC Consulting (a wholly owned subsidiary company of Borders College) and has recently joined the board of Scotland's Colleges. She does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
Ms Dawson will be re-appointed for a period of 4 years from December 1, 2009 until November 30, 2013.
The Scottish Ambulance Service Board plays an integral part in the day to day operation of the NHS in Scotland and provides the emergency ambulance service and other non-emergency patient transport services.
This ministerial re-appointment was made in accordance with Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS) Code of Practice.
All re-appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five years, Ms Dawson has not been involved in any political activity.
