"We are continuing to closely monitor the situation and are liaising with the Met Office, SEPA, local authorities and the emergency services. Although the disruption and damage seems to be less than might have been expected, some people have seen their homes or businesses affected and our thoughts are with them.

"Flood warnings remain in place and further rain is expected over the weekend so it is vital that we all remain vigilant. I have visited Comrie, in my own constituency, this morning to see for myself the efforts in hand there to deal with the high waters on the River Earn, where a severe flood warning is in place.

"Our thoughts are also with those working on the ground to deal with the flooding. Our local authorities and emergency services have responded well and have offered help to colleagues in Cumbria. They deserve our thanks and events south of the border should serve as a reminder of the dangers local responders face in these situations."

The Scottish Government's Resilience Room (SGoRR) remains active in order to monitor the ongoing flooding situation. Officials met again this morning. Ministers and officials are due to meet later today.

SGoRR will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend and keep in close contact with local authorities, emergency services, SEPA, the Met Office and Transport Scotland.

At the moment there are eight Severe Flood Warnings, nine Flood Warnings and 15 Flood Watches in place across Scotland.
