Warm Homes

16/11/2009

The Warm Homes Campaign, driven by Energy Action Scotland and National Energy Action, aims to raise awareness of fuel poverty and to highlight energy saving schemes.

Housing and Communities Minister Alex Neil said:

"I very much welcome this campaign. It is unacceptable for people to feel they may not be able to have a warm home this winter.

"That's why, through the Energy Assistance Package, the Scottish Government is providing over £60 million a year to assist more people in Scotland than ever before.

"The right help is available to everyone who needs it including the elderly and young families.

"The Home Insulation Scheme, backed by 15 million pounds from the Scottish Government, is also helping people living in poorly insulated houses. They will now get more help to make their homes greener and lower their fuel bills.

"I would urge anyone who is struggling to cope with energy bills to call the Energy Saving Scotland advice line (0800 512 012) and get help now in time for winter."

The Warm Homes Campaign runs from today until December 4.
