Museums Chairman re-appointed

Culture Minister Michael Russell has reappointed Sir Angus Grossart as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of National Museums Scotland.
Mr Russell said:
"I am delighted that Sir Angus has agreed to stay on and see through completion of the National Museums' ambitious Royal Museum project. I greatly look forward to continuing our close and productive collaboration.
"Sir Angus has done much over the last four years to raise the profile and reputation of National Museums Scotland and in setting ambitious targets to increase access to these national collections for the people of Scotland. His continued stewardship of the National Museums will be hugely beneficial."
Sir Angus is currently Chairman and Managing Director of merchant bank Noble Grossart. He has served on the boards of many UK and North American companies, including the Royal Bank of Scotland where he was Vice Chairman until 2005. Sir Angus has been Chairman of National Galleries Scotland, Trustee and Vice Chairman of the National Heritage Memorial Fund, and Chairman of the Heritage Lottery Fund in Scotland.
This reappointment will run from February 01, 2010 to July 31, 2012.
The post is part-time and is not remunerated.
Sir Angus is also currently Chair of the Scottish Futures Trust.
This Ministerial public reappointment was made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland's Code of Practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. Sir Angus has not declared any political activity in the last five years.
