Review of non-statutory data requirements

Scotland's Chief Statistician today published a Review of non-statutory quantitative data requirements of Local Government and Public Bodies in 2005-06 and 2008-09.

The main findings are:

  • The number of requests that Scottish Government make for other parts of the public sector to provide information has fallen.
  • In 2008-09 Scottish Government made 73 requests for quantitative information from Local Authorities, down from 114 in 2005-06 which is a 36 per cent reduction
  • There were similar reductions in requests for data from other public bodies (down 8 per cent), businesses and voluntary organisations (down 22%) and private individuals (down 17 per cent)
