The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change, Stewart Stevenson today announced the appointment of a new member, Ms Primrose Stark to the David MacBrayne Ltd Board.
This new three year appointment is effective from October 1, 2009 is part-time and attracts a daily fee rate of £309 (under review) for a minimum time commitment of three days per month. Ms Primrose Stark holds no other public appointments.
Ms Primrose Stark lives in Giffnock and is currently a Non-Executive Director of Competence Matters Limited and was a former Non-Executive Director of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority between November 2004 and February 2009. She was also HR Director and a founder Director of First Engineering Ltd between 1996 and 2004 having been part of the successful Management Employee Buy Out from British Rail. Between May 2006 and June 2007 she was a Business Transformation Consultant for Glasgow Housing Association.
Announcing the new appointment, Stewart Stevenson said:

The Scottish Government is committed to improving essential ferry services to Scotland's remote and island communities and this new appointment to David MacBrayne Ltd will help CalMac and NorthLink to deliver on that commitment."
David MacBrayne Ltd is wholly owned by Scottish Ministers and is the group holding for CalMac Ferries Ltd and two other ferry operating subsidiaries, NorthLink Ferries Ltd and Cowal Ferries Ltd.
CalMac Ferries Ltd currently provides the Clyde and Hebrides ferry services through the new public service contract which started on October 1, 2007. NorthLink provides the Northern Isles ferry services through a contract which started on July 6, 2006. Cowal Ferries Ltd operates the Gourock-Dunoon service.
This Ministerial public appointment was made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland's Code of Practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. Ms Primrose Stark undertook no political activity in the past five years.
