World winner on the web

16/09/2009

The Scottish Government's main corporate website has won an Outstanding Website WebAward in the 13th annual Web Marketing Association competition.

It is the second year in a row the website has proved a winner after being compared to government sites from all over the world. In 2008 the result was a Government Standard of Excellence, one level below the latest Outstanding verdict.

The award was based on the website being judged consistently above the industry average for seven criteria - design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use.

Judges comments included:

"Very nicely architected. Delivering a huge selection of information in an organized manner"

"This site looks consistent throughout and has a subtle design. The large amount of content looks to be dynamic and interesting."

"Surprisingly sophisticated, interactive and user-friendly for a government website"
