07/05/2009
The latest figures on Influenza A (H1N1) show no further confirmed or probable cases in Scotland.
Across Scotland, there are currently:
- Four confirmed cases
- No probable cases
- 12 possible cases under investigation
Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said:
"It is encouraging that not only do we have no new confirmed or probable cases but we have also seen a marked reduction in possible cases.
"In addition, all the cases currently under investigation are travel-related - we have not seen any further person to person transmission.
"The risk to public health in Scotland remains low but it is right that everyone remains vigilant as we work to disrupt the spread of the virus."
The 12 possible cases are in the following health board areas:
Borders - 1
Fife - 2
Forth Valley - 1
Grampian - 1
Lanarkshire - 2
Lothian - 5
Possible cases are people who have flu-like symptoms and have either been in contact with a confirmed case or travelled to an affected area.
Probable cases are people who have tested positive for Influenza A. Further testing is required to confirm whether they are suffering from the H1N1 strain.
