NHS National Services Scotland Board

Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon today announced a new non-executive member appointment to the NHS National Services Scotland Board.
Mrs Mary Robertson is a medical defence lawyer with the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland. She previously worked in private legal practice with Shepherd and Wedderburn LLP. Prior moving in to law, she held a number of senior management positions in the NHS in the Greater Glasgow and Argyll and Clyde Health Boards. She does not hold any other ministerial appointments
This appointment will be for a period of four years from February 1, 2009 to January 31, 2012.
This post is part-time with a time commitment of 8 hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £7,748.
NHS National Services Scotland provides a diverse range of strategic services to ensure frontline patient care is delivered effectively across Scotland.
Although not regulated by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS), this Ministerial appointment was made in accordance with their Code of Practice as a means of best practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five years, Mrs Robertson has not been involved in any political activity.
