Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon today announced a new non-executive member appointment to the State Hospitals Board for Scotland.
Mrs Katie Rae has been appointed through open competition for a further term as a Member of the State Hospitals Board for Scotland. During her previous term of office, which ended on December 31, 2008, she was vice chair of the Board, chair of the Clinical Governance Committee and was a member of the New Hospital Project Board. Her previous experience includes work with the RCN, Voluntary Health Scotland and ELCAP. She does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
This appointment will be for a period of four years from January 26, 2009 to January 31, 2013.
This post is part-time with a time commitment of 8 hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £7,748.
The State Hospitals Board for Scotland is a national resource which provides assessment, treatment and care in conditions of special security for individuals with mental disorder who, because of their dangerous, violent or criminal propensities, cannot be cared for in any other setting.
This Ministerial appointment was made in accordance with Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS) Code of Practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five years, Mrs Rae has not been involved in any political activity.
