Paralympic heroes honoured

Scotland's Paralympians were honoured today.

Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon held a reception in Edinburgh to celebrate the success of Scottish Paralympians at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing.

The GB team came second to China on the medal table with Scottish athletes contributing two gold, three silver and three bronze to the medal tally.

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:

"They are an inspiration and it's been really tremendous to meet the medallists and all the atheletes who have done spectacularly well.

"The inpiration that these winning atheletes give to new generations of atheletes really can't be overestimated. They're heroes in Scotland and there are young people everywhere who want to emulate their success."
