Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon today announced the new appointment of number of non-executive members to NHS Boards across NHS Scotland.
GRAMPIAN NHS BOARD
Mr Terry Mackie is a chartered architect, is a Director of 'Peacock Visual Arts' (a centre for contemporary art in Aberdeen), and an Advisory Board member of Architecture & Design Scotland, for which he receives no remuneration. He is and has been a member of various networks, throughout Scotland, concerned with the built environment. His previous experience includes working as an architect in the private sector, local government and over 30 years in the NHS.
Mr David Anderson spent nearly 30 years in the Royal Air Force. He has a particular interest in leadership and was the founding Director of the Defence Leadership Centre and, prior to leaving the Service, one of the Assistant Chiefs of Staff at RAF Strike Command. His experience includes several human resources and general management appointments and he has been involved with developing a number of new Defence organisations as well as membership of various management boards. He does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
Both appointments will be for a period of four years from August 1, 2008 to July 31, 2012.
These posts are part-time with a time commitment of eight hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £7,748.
GREATER GLASGOW AND CLYDE NHS BOARD
Mr Ian Lee is a non-executive director of the listed company Clyde Process Solutions plc where he is responsible for chairing the audit committee and is a member of the remuneration committee. He is a former senior partner of Ernst & Young LLP in Glasgow, where he was primarily involved in auditing listed and private companies and publicly funded organisations. He was a member of Ernst & Young's governing council for six years, and was a member of the firm's audit committee. He is a chartered accountant and was recently convener of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland's audit and assurance committee. He is a director of The Merchants House of Glasgow, a charitable institution. He does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
This appointment will be for a period of four years from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2012.
This post is part-time with a time commitment of eight hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £7,748.
ORKNEY NHS BOARD
Mrs Mairhi Trickett is a Registered Sick Children's Nurse (RSCN), a Registered General Nurse (RGN) and a State Certified Midwife (SCM). She is currently Co-ordinator of Crossroads (Orkney), a combined Crossroads Respite Care Scheme and Princess Royal Trust for Carers Centre. The scheme ensures that Carers are key partners in delivering care in Orkney. She has also worked in Kenya with the Maasai Tribe under the auspices of Voluntary Service Overseas setting up under-5's clinics and running a medical centre in a Presbyterian Mission.
She was a Councillor for Hoy, Walls, Flotta and Graemsay with Orkney Islands Council and became Vice Chair of Education and Chair of Housing, Social Work and Protective Services. She was also a Director on the Tourist Board, Shipping Company and Orkney Property Development Company. Mrs Trickett does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
This appointment will be for a period of four years from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2012.

SHETLAND NHS BOARD
Mr Keith Massey has served as an Air Engineering Officer with the Royal Navy and also held a number of management roles within different industries including deputy Power Station Manager in Lerwick before commencing an international management career with a Biotech company. Mr Massey recently returned home to Shetland to run his own hotel business. He does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
Mr Drew Ratter is a crofter in Ollaberry in Shetland. On the croft, he and his wife Vivienne raise Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cattle, and Shetland sheep. He is currently Convenor of the Crofters Commission, for which he receives an annual remuneration of £28,251. He is also a Director of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, for which he receives an annual remuneration of £10,065. He will be retiring from this appointment at the end of September 2008. He is also about to end his membership of the Scottish Consumer Council. He was a member of Shetland Islands Council from 1994 till 2007; standing down to take up the position with the Crofters Commission.
Mr Massey's appointment will be for a period of four years from June 9, 2008 to May 31, 2012 and Mr Ratter's appointment will be for a period of four years from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2012.

TAYSIDE NHS BOARD
Mrs Angela Scott is Head of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in Scotland. She is a qualified accountant with over 10 years experience of working in the public sector. She was a member of the Independent Scrutiny panel set up to review the service reconfiguration proposals of two Scottish health boards. She does not hold any other ministerial appointment.
This appointment will be for a period of 4 years from August 1, 2008 to July 31, 2012.
This post is part-time with a time commitment of eight hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £7,748.
Ministerial appointments are made in accordance with Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS) Code of Practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five years, Mrs Mairhi Trickett has held office as Secretary of her local branch and canvassed on behalf of the Orkney Liberal Democrat Party. Mr Drew Ratter has obtained office as an Independent Councillor. None of the other appointees have been involved in any political activity.
