Ambulance service investigation
29/05/2008
Responding to the statement issued by the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) today, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon said:
"I have spoken earlier today to Bill Brackenridge, the Chairman of the Scottish Ambulance Service to discuss the allegations raised against the Chief Executive Kevin Doran and the Director of Operations Grace Kennedy. I welcome his decision to appoint an Independent Investigation team.
"The decision taken today by the Scottish Ambulance Service Board is in their role as employer - but the Scottish Government has been, and will continue to liaise with the SAS over these issues.
"While it is right that we await the conclusion of the independent team's investigation, I am concerned by a range of issues raised both directly to me, and by parliamentary colleagues at last week's debate.
"I am therefore seeking Parliament's approval to come back and address these concerns in a statement next week."
