Expenditure on School Education 2006-07

Scotland's Chief Statistician today published a range of statistics relating to local authority expenditure on schools.

The main findings are:

  • There was a four per cent increase in local authority revenue spend on education, equating to a 1.5 per cent real terms increase
  • Average spend per pupil in primary was £4,403 and, in secondary, £6,120.
  • There was a 32 per cent increase in capital spend on primary and secondary, and a 133 per cent increase in special. These figures do not include PPP payments.
