GDP figures - third quarter 2007

Scotland's Chief Statistician today announced the release of Gross Domestic Product for Scotland for the 3rd Quarter of 2007. This quarterly publication measures growth, in real terms, of GDP for Scotland.
The main findings are:
- GDP rose by 2.1 per cent annually and increased by 0.5 per cent over the third quarter of 2007 (seasonally adjusted)
- Over the year to the end of 2007 Q3, annual output in the Scottish service sector grew by 2.8 per cent, compared with a 0.8 per cent decrease in the production sector and a 1.1 per cent rise in construction
- In the third quarter of 2007, the service sector grew by 0.7 per cent, the production sector declined by 0.1 per cent and the construction sector grew by 0.2 per cent
