Scottish Government website survey
18/10/2007
This website (Scottish Government main corporate) has been given a satisfaction rating of more than 80 per cent by its users in an independent survey published today.
A total of 82 per cent said they were either very or fairly satisfied with their experience of the website, and another 82 per cent said they found the content to be very or fairly useful.
Traffic to the site has increased for the fourth successive year, according to independently audited figures.
The number of unique users in 2006 rose 21.3 per cent to almost 498,000 a month, the number of visits by 16.8 per cent, and the number of page views by 4.3 per cent.
Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth John Swinney said:
"Online communication is a hugely important factor in explaining the actions and the policies of the Scottish Government.
"This Users Study shows that the public appreciate this fact and realise just how valuable the website is as a source of reliable and accurate information.
"The website is an integral part of this Government's policy of transparency and accountability and it will continue to be developed in line with these objectives."
The Users' Survey, which was conducted earlier this year by George Street Research, made several recommendations for changes to further improve the layout and usability of the site. These are now being considered as part of ongoing development.
