Scotland is delivering on an international agreement to address climate change, an international conference in Nairobi, Kenya, was told today.
Environment Minister Ross Finnie said:
"Climate change requires an urgent international response. The recently published Stern Review highlights the need for the actions we are taking through our Climate Change Programme.
"The steps that we have taken since signing the Montreal Declaration, demonstrating that we take climate change seriously and that we are taking an international lead.
"We will go beyond our Kyoto share by saving a million tonnes of carbon more than we are required under the Kyoto target. We are pushing the development of renewable technologies and promoting a co-ordinated response to climate change impacts."
