Queen's Birthday Honours 2006

John Elvidge, Permanent Secretary of the Scottish Executive has been awarded a knighthood in the Queen's 2006 Birthday Honours list which is published today.

Brian Ivory, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Galleries of Scotland, was also knighted.

Professor James Ironside, Professor of Clinical Neuropathology Medicine at the Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease Surveillance Unit, Nicola Munro, Head of the Executive's Development Department and Timothy Bowdler, Chief Executive of the Johnston Press, have all been appointed CBE.

John Angus MacKay, Chief Executive of the Gaelic Media Service, and Ashley Page, Artistic Director of Scottish Ballet have been appointed OBE.

Barry Ferguson, Captain of Rangers Football Club, and Ian Wilkinson, media technician at Dundee College, have been appointed MBE.
