Scotland's produce on menu at food fair

The best of Scottish produce was today showcased at Tesco's first ever Enjoy the Taste Of Scotland event at the Hub in Edinburgh.
Visitors to the exhibition can view and sample produce from 67 Scottish companies which is sold in Tesco stores across the UK. Tesco source over £787m worth of food produce from Scotland every year.
Speaking at the exhibition, Rural Development Minister Ross Finnie said:
"The Scottish Executive is committed to working with producers and processors to add value to Scottish produce.
"The Scottish companies on show here today provide an excellent example of food businesses focused on meeting market demand for high quality produce. That is the key to prosperity and sustainability.
"These companies demonstrate what can be done to keep ahead of our competitors. I have been encourage by the showcase of Scottish produce I have seen today and we will continue to work to raise our profile within the UK and throughout Europe.
"The exhibition runs throughout the weekend and I encourage the public to visit and taste for themselves the variety and quality of goods that Scotland's produces."
- Tesco source around £787m per year worth of Scottish produce and have over 100 Scottish suppliers.
- This is the first such event Tesco have held in Scotland
- The event has been sponsored by Scottish Food and Drink, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Quality Meat Scotland, Seafish Industry Authority and Visit Scotland.
