Land Management Contract deadline extended

09/05/2005

Farmers will now have until Monday, June 6, 2005 to submit any Land Management Contract applications.

However, the deadline for the submission of all Single Application Form (SAF/IACS), including National Reserve and challenges to entitlements, remains Monday, May 16, 2005.

Rural Development Minister, Ross Finnie said:

"We have agreed to extend the deadline for the submission of LMC contracts as we recognise the original period between the issue of guidance and submission of the application could, in cases, prove challenging.

"We want to encourage as significant an uptake of the LMC menu as possible and I hope that the extra weeks provided will enable more farmers to take advantage of this opportunity.

"It is important however, to ensure that farmers and crofters do not lose sight of the need to get their SAF/IACS in before 16 May. Otherwise they would lose their subsidy."

Some farmers have also been concerned about whether they can receive support for the new farm visits, talks and training measures in the Menu Scheme for activity next April and early May, after the dead-line for submitting claims.

The Scottish Executive Rural Affairs Department have confirmed that farmers can include in their application activities they intend to do in April and early May next year.

SEERAD Area Offices across Scotland will be open on Saturday May 14 from 9am-4pm. The SEERAD on-line Help desk will also be open May 14 from 9am-4pm to assist farmers who wish to make on-line claims.
