New Glasgow Divisional Procurator Fiscal

Anne Currie, the new Procurator Fiscal for 'G' Division, Glasgow takes up post today. She was appointed by Lord Advocate, Colin Boyd QC.

Anne will have local responsibility for the investigation and prosecution of crime and the investigation of sudden, suspicious and unexplained deaths in 'G' Division and will work closely with Glasgow Area Procurator Fiscal, Catherine Dyer, who has full responsibility for the Glasgowarea.

Anne returns toGlasgowhaving worked there previously as a Procurator Fiscal Depute from 1987 - 2003.

She said:

"I am very pleased to be working again with the people ofGlasgow. There have been many positive changes within the prosecution service as part of the programme of modernisation to deliver a sharper more focussed approach to our work and I am keen to engage with local communities to better understand their needs and concerns."

Catherine Dyer, Area Fiscal, said

"I am delighted to welcome Anne back to theGlasgowoffice. She will build on the good work, done by Tom Dysart, to work with the experienced and committed staff in theGlasgowoffice and local criminal justice partners to tackle crime and improve the service that the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service delivers to the local community"

Anne Currie joined the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service as a trainee in 1979, after graduating in law fromGlasgowUniversity. She had a career break, during which she had two children. She worked at theGlasgowoffice from 1987 until May 2003, when she was appointed Procurator Fiscal forKilmarnock.



Tom Dysart has been appointed as Area Procurator Fiscal forDumfriesandGalloway.
