New Chair for Fife NHS Board

Professor James McGoldrick is to be appointed as Chair of Fife NHS Board.
He will take up the position on May 1 and his appointment will be for four years.
Health Minister Malcolm Chisholm said:
"I am delighted to announce this important new appointment. Professor James McGoldrick will bring a diverse range of skills and experience which will be of great benefit to the Fife NHS Board.
"I should also like to add my personal thanks to Ms Esther Roberton for the considerable time and effort she has given to the NHS over a number of years."
The current Chair, Ms Esther Roberton, will stand down on April 30.
Professor James McGoldrick is an Education and Management Consultant and is the past national Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He was appointed Professor of Human Resources Management at Nottingham Business School in 1992 and moved to the University of Abertay, Dundee as Vice Principal in 1995, a position he held until he left the university in 2003.
It is expected that the Board Chair will contribute around three days per week for which the annual remuneration is £26,585. Professor McGoldrick is currently a member of the Tayside NHS Board. This appointment will cease upon his take-up of the Fife NHS Board Chair position. He is also a member of the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council, for which he receives an annual remuneration of £5,157.
Fife NHS Board is responsible for the strategic planning of health services and the development of measures to improve the health of the community in the Fife region. To meet those needs it has an annual budget of over £352.536 million.
This Ministerial public appointment was made in accordance with guidance issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Public Appointments (OCPA).
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared ) to be made public.
Professor McGoldrick has not been involved in any political activity within the last five years.
