Nallatech wins MoD contract

Deputy Enterprise Minister Lewis Macdonald today welcomed the award of a research contract from the MOD's new Defence Technology Centre to Cumbernauld electronics company Nallatech.
It has won the research contract from BAe Systems for the new Defence Technology Centre on Electromagnetic Remote Sensing - Nallatech will research and develop next generation reconfigurable hardware as a sub-contractor to BAe.
During a visit to the company today, the Deputy Minister said:
"Nallatech is a great example of an indigenous Scottish company which, through innovation and flexibility has become a leader in its field.
"This new contract is good news for the company, good news for the employees and good news for Cumbernauld,
"Growing the economy is the Executive's main priority and I'm pleased to see for myself how Scottish electronics companies are dealing with the issues facing the sector."
Nallatech, which won Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire's Business Excellence Award last year, employs around 50 people and is a technology leader in reconfigurable computers for high performance applications in aerospace and defence, real-time imaging and scientific computing.
Earlier Mr Macdonald visited another Cumbernauld company, Modus Media International, and the Motorola plant at East Kilbride.
Visiting Modus Media International, Mr Macdonald said:
"For more than 20 years Modus Media has been a partner and problem solver for many of the world's largest technology companies.
"It has been able to innovate and adapt to the fast-changing marketplace over two decades and I'm pleased to be able to see for myself how this pioneering company established and is building on its decisive competitive edge in global supply chain services."
Mr Macdonald also visited Motorola's semiconductor plant in East Kilbride.
