Chair of Prostitution Group

A former Assistant Chief Constable of Strathclyde Police, Sandra Hood, has been appointed as Chair of the Expert Group on Prostitution.
Justice Minister Cathy Jamieson said:
"I am delighted that Sandra Hood has accepted our invitation to chair this important group. The intention to have a working group was announced by Hugh Henry during the last Parliament at the Stage 1 debate on Margo MacDonald's proposal for a Bill to enable Tolerance Zones to be created.
"Over the next few weeks I will be discussing with Sandra Hood the detailed remit of the group. I am determined it should look at a whole range of relevant issues covering health, social justice, poverty and re-offending."
Sandra Hood has recently retired as the highest-ranking woman police officer in Scotland. She has had extensive interaction with politicians at local, regional and national levels, on a wide range of issues involving female offenders and sexual crimes. She has also served on a number of high profile committees including, the Ministerial Committee which reported on women offenders in Cornton Vale Prison.
She has extensive experience of research into policy development and the practical implementation of policy. She is currently serving as Chairman of Ayrshire and Arran Primary Care Trust and is a member of the Employment Tribunal Scotland.
